Newsroom

Latest news and preserved local headlines

Every path below is a real page. Heritage slugs from the old WordPress site stay at the root so backlinks still work. The copy is new, cited, and written for a community desk — not a paste of the 2019–2022 posts.

Park Ridge News treats the news index as a public file, not a marketing grid. If you arrived from an old Google result or a Facebook share, the slug in your address bar should match the original editorial URL. What changed is the body: we rewrite around Logan City Council, Queensland Government and Bureau of Meteorology records, and we refuse to reconstruct quotes, crash particulars or medical detail that we cannot stand behind.

Newer explainers and newsroom notes also live here once they are filed in Keystatic. If you have a public notice, a dated council agenda item, or a community event that already exists on an official page, use the tip form rather than asking us to “make it viral.”

A Greenbank crash headline we will not reconstruct

This URL is preserved because it was published and linked. Park Ridge News does not republish unverified crash particulars. Use QPS and QLD Traffic for official road information.

4118 as a local-stories shorthand

Postcode 4118 is Hillcrest / Logan West civic shorthand, including the Logan West Community Centre at 2 Wineglass Drive. This heritage podcast URL is kept as a place marker, not a reconstructed show notes page.

Greenbank park-and-ride upgrade beside the RSL

The Queensland Government funded a $21 million Department of Transport and Main Roads upgrade of the park-and-ride adjacent to the Greenbank RSL, delivering 600 parking spaces. This page keeps the old URL and points to Translink for current routes.

1907 and the first church building in Logan West

Local historical writing records a one-acre allotment subdivided from the Cordingley property in 1907, held in trust for what was most likely a Church of England building on the Park Ridge hill. The hedge in that sentence is the story.

1887 — the great flood on the Logan River

BOM still lists January 1887 as the highest tabulated Logan River peak at Maclean Bridge (22.30 metres) and Waterford (13.70 metres). This page is a reading of that official table, not a reconstructed diary.

The 1942 RAAF airstrip in Park Ridge

Queensland’s Anzac Square WWII map places emergency airstrip A-12 on the Park Ridge ridge, running south-west from near Bumstead Road toward Park Ridge Road. It was graded in 1942 and proved a poor operational field.
