Locals asked, in 2020 and 2021, whether a $25,000 HomeBuilder grant applied to a new house or a major renovation in Logan West. The only responsible answer now is: read the official pages, and do not treat this newsroom as a substitute for the Queensland Revenue Office.
The Australian Treasury still publishes a HomeBuilder landing page. It states that the program is closed to applications and will not reopen. States and territories administered the grant. In Queensland that was the Queensland Revenue Office. The Australian Government did not process individual applications.
Published eligibility, in the Treasury fact sheets, included: the applicant had to be a natural person (not a company or trust), 18 or older, an Australian citizen, and under an income cap of $125,000 for an individual or $200,000 for a couple based on specified tax years. For the $25,000 setting, eligible building contracts had to be entered from 4 June 2020 to 31 December 2020, with property-value caps (including a $750,000 new-home setting and a renovation band between $150,000 and $750,000 on a property then valued at no more than $1.5 million). A later $15,000 setting covered a subsequent contract window into 2021. Construction-start rules were extended more than once. Treasury later published counts of eligible applications funded by jurisdiction; those tables change as remaining files are finalised.
None of that is a recommendation to act. Grant settings were time-limited. If you still have an existing file, QRO and Treasury pages — not a local news site — are the authority. We keep /25k-homebuilder-grant-what-you-need-to-know/ because the old site used it as a local explainer in a growth corridor. We will not estimate how many Park Ridge households received money.
